I support Power to Girls by committing empowering girls. We must address the issue of poverty and marginalisation, which lead to child marriage. We need to recognise that COVID has had a very real effect around the world of increasing the number of people in poverty and therefore increasing child marriage. Let's also work together to make sure girls in Afghanistan don’t get pushed into marriage and can stay in school

Our Power to Girls commitment is to work with girls in vulnerable contexts and ensure they have access to tools that enable them to build their own projects in life. We have seen the importance of working with them to envision what they dream of, what they want, and work with them to ensure that they have the tools to make this happen. Girls must be able to dream of their possibilities and not be affected by VAWG. Give visibility to the problem.

Power to Girls is when we give girls a space at the decision-making table so they can make their voices count on issues affecting them. This is why we are leading the girls' rights movement in Nigeria and empowering girls with leadership and advocacy skills.

I support Power to Girls by calling the Nigerian Government to action on child marriage. Girls should be able to report child marriage and have the government take action to stop that marriage so they can go to school instead.

Power to girls means ending the devastating impact of child marriage, which continues to be ignored in the developing world. Millions of child brides, some only just past puberty, are denied access to health, education, and economic opportunities. The majority of them are burdened with the roles and responsibilities of wives and mothers without adequate support, resources, or capabilities

Amar Sonar Poribar (ASP) is our community-led program, born in 2003, aimed to prevent child marriage, through education, awareness, community mobilitation, advocacy and peer-to-peer support in rural south west area of Bangladesh. The unspoken consequence of the pandemic is the increase in early marriages, due to the lack of control over the territory and the closure of schools for quite 20 months. Our commitment today is to reactivate the interventions aimed at stemming this increase.
