"She cannot just sit around waiting to turn twenty”: understanding why child marriage persists in Kenya and Zambia
This report by the International Center for Research on Women (ICRW) and partners, looks at the factors of child marriage among communities in the Kisumu County in Kenya and in the Central Province in Zambia.
It identifies several pathways that can lead adolescents to marry early, and highlights the relationship between school dropout, early pregnancy, and child marriage.
The report also provides key recommendations to help dismantle these pathways and inform programmes and policies to address child marriage in these contexts.
