In India, an estimated 3 million girls are married every year. Despite some encouraging progress, due to the sheer size and scale of the issue, the numbers reached to date have been too small to have a significant impact on the prevalence of child marriage across the country.

This report outlines strategies to accelerate the decline of child marriage by emphasising the need for context specific strategies which take into consideration the pattern and prevalence of child marriage in a specific location as well as the social, cultural, economic and political factors which drive the practice.
