Protecting the girl child: Using the law to end child, early and forced marriage and related human rights violations

This Equality Now report illustrates the impact of child marriage on a girl's life through numerous case studies.

It examines the legal provisions relating to age of marriage in 18 countries, the extent to which they have been enforced, and the law and practice of related issues such as bride price / dowry, statutory rape laws, child protection services, legal requirements for registration of birth and marriage, and schooling for girls.

Finally, it identifies the intersections between child marriage and other legal issues, including female genital mutilation, force-feeding, human trafficking, and gender-based violence.
