"This old man can feed us, you will marry him": child and forced marriage in South Sudan

This Human Rights Watch report describes the severe consequences of child and forced marriage, and the risks that women and girls face when they resist or try to leave these marriages.

It examines the lack of protection for victims of child marriage and the obstacles they face in attempting to find redress.

It also highlights steps taken in South Sudan to address child marriage and subsequent problems with implementation, lack of facilities and education.

Finally, it makes recommendations to the Government, UN agencies and NGOs to tackle child marriage.
