Women for Women International was created in 1993 and has since been helping women survivors of war to rebuild their lives and choose their own futures. Headquartered in the United States, their programmes focus on women's socio-economic empowerment in eight countries affected by war and conflict. The organisation also works with men and community leaders to change social and gender norms, and advocates to achieve long-lasting change for marginalised women.
